Modern Marvels: Jewish Adventures in the Graphic Novel The Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale will host a five-part discussion series, on the sixth floor, relating to the theme Modern Marvels: Jewish Adventures in the Graphic Novel. The scholar for the series is Dr. Andrea Greenbaum, Associate Professor of English at Barry University and author of the book, Jews of South Florida. The books and dates for each of the five events of the series are:
●August 17, 2008: The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman
●September 14, 2008: Julius Knipl, Real Estate Photographer by Ben Katchor
●October 12, 2008: The Quitter by Harvey Pekar
●November 9, 2008: The Rabbi's Cat by Joann Sfar
The books chosen for the discussion series are available for check-out at the Main Library circulation desk, and attendees are encouraged to read them in advance of the events in order to get the most out of the discussions.
